Ask a question:

Why am I having trouble with listening tests for Macs running 10.5 (Leopard) or older? Java Update not available

Solution

You may not be able to access listening tests because your Mac system software cannot be updated. Apple is no longer supporting updates to Java on Mac computers running OS 10.5 and below. Listening tests in the online music courses can only be successfully completed on Mac computers running OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), or 10.9 (Mavericks) because the listening tests require you to complete them by using a browser that is equipped to handle the latest versions of Java.

If possible, you should try to take the listening tests on a much newer Mac or on a Windows computer that has a browser that runs on the latest version of Java. If you are unable to do that, you should contact your instructor directly to let him or her know that you are having difficulties because your computer does not allow you to complete the quizzes.
